Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Sumi: PDF Document Scanner ("Sumi"), provided by Instasize Inc. ("Instasize," "we," "us"). Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of Sumi. By using Sumi, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
Using Sumi
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Sumi on Apple devices you own or control, under these Terms and the App Store's rules.
Your documents
Your documents are yours. Sumi processes them on your device and doesn't upload them to us. You're responsible for the documents you scan, sign, store and share, and for having the right to do so, including documents that belong to other people, such as ID cards.
Acceptable use
Don't use Sumi to break the law or violate anyone's rights, to forge documents or signatures, or to deceive or defraud others. Don't reverse engineer, disrupt or get around Sumi's purchase controls.
Accuracy
Text recognition, smart names and the details Sumi pulls out of documents, such as totals, dates and phone numbers, are automatic and can be wrong. Check anything important against the original. If you protect a PDF with a password, keep that password safe: we can't recover it.
Sumi Pro subscriptions
- Scanning, cleanup, text recognition, searchable PDFs, search and sharing are free, with no limits. Sumi Pro adds Fill & Sign, password-protected PDFs and ID-card scans.
- Sumi Pro is an auto-renewable subscription, yearly or monthly. The yearly plan includes a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. The price and billing period are shown in the app before you buy, and may vary by country.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase or, with a free trial, when the trial ends.
- Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- To cancel a free trial without being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings, or in Sumi under Settings › Pro › Manage Subscription. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription.
- Apple handles refunds under its own policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com, or in Sumi under Settings › Pro.
Third-party services
Sumi works with Apple services and uses the service providers named in our Privacy Policy. Their own terms may also apply.
Changes and termination
We may change, suspend or discontinue features when reasonably necessary, for example for security, legal compliance or maintenance. We may restrict access if you materially violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sumi is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement or uninterrupted operation. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Instasize isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill arising from Sumi. Keep copies of documents that matter. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or liability that can't legally be limited.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version here with a new effective date. If you keep using Sumi after an update takes effect, you accept the revised Terms.
